Andrea Janeková is an accomplished ophthalmic surgeon and educator with a strong reputation both in the Czech Republic and internationally. She specializes in cataract, refractive, vitreoretinal, and glaucoma surgery, performing nearly 3,000 intraocular procedures every year. In 2024, she became one of only two surgeons in the Czech Republic to hold the prestigious FEBOS-CR title, recognizing excellence in cataract and refractive surgery.
A graduate of the Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague, Dr. Janeková has been part of Eye Centre Prague since 2012, where she now serves as Head of the Cataract, Refractive, and Vitreoretinal Surgery Center. Eye Centre Prague itself is among the most advanced eye clinics in Central Europe, with the highest level of accreditation from the Czech Ministry of Health.
In addition to her surgical practice, Dr. Janeková is an active lecturer and instructor both in the Czech Republic and abroad. She regularly teaches at international congresses and wetlabs, including the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) and the Balkan Ophthalmic Wetlab (BOW) in Sofia, where she has been the only Czech faculty member for many years. She also lectures within the Czech Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (CSCRS), contributing to the education of young ophthalmologists at the national level.
As a board member of the Czech Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, she actively contributes to the development of the field. She is also the founder and guarantor of the Eye Centre Prague Academy, an educational platform supporting residents and young ophthalmologists with continuous training and mentorship.
Her passion for innovation is reflected not only in her broad surgical expertise — covering cataract, refractive, vitreoretinal, and glaucoma procedures — but also in her active involvement in clinical research, digitalization, and modern applications in ophthalmology. She regularly presents at major international meetings, including ESCRS and ASCRS, where she has lectured on digital and surgical workflows as well as new intraocular lens technologies. She also serves as a Key Opinion Leader for Alcon and ZEISS.
