Dr. Kristian A. Vazquez Romo, MD, FWCRS is an ophthalmologist specializing in cornea, refractive surgery, and external ocular diseases. With more than five years of focused experience, he has developed a clinical and academic trajectory dedicated to advancing modern corneal care and surgical innovation.

He currently serves as the Cornea Program Coordinator and Attending Physician in the Cornea and Refractive Surgery Department at the Asociación Para Evitar la Ceguera en México. In this role, he oversees the program’s clinical and surgical activities, contributes to strategic development, and plays a key part in training the next generation of corneal surgeons. His surgical practice spans a wide range of advanced procedures, including having performed more than 200 endothelial corneal transplants, reflecting both his technical expertise and commitment to restoring patients’ visual function.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Vazquez Romo is actively engaged in research. He has authored over ten publications in international peer-reviewed journals, contributing to the fields of corneal disease management, surgical techniques, and ocular surface pathology. His academic presence continues to grow through lectures, resident mentorship, and participation in professional forums.

He is also a Board Member of the Mexican Center for Cornea and Refractive Surgery, currently serving the 2024–2026 term following an earlier term from 2021–2022. This role reflects his leadership within the national refractive surgery community and his ongoing efforts to promote high standards of practice and education.

Dr. Vazquez Romo completed two subspecialty programs at the Hospital Asociación Para Evitar la Ceguera en México: Ocular Surface (2018–2019) and Cornea and Refractive Surgery (2020–2021). In 2024, he joined the faculty as a professor in the Ocular Surface Program, further solidifying his commitment to academic ophthalmology and surgical education.

He is a member of the World College of Refractive Surgery, and his professional strengths include refractive surgery, corneal transplantation, external ocular disease management, clinical research, and the training and mentoring of residents.
